Carol A. Vaverchak

January 1, 1951 — September 11, 2018

Carol A. (Thorn) Vaverchak, 67, of Union Dale, Mount Pleasant Township died unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at home. 

Born August 2, 1951 in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Florence (Clark) Thorn.

Carol graduated from Susquehanna Community Schools.  She loved music and dancing; she especially enjoyed playing the drums.  Carol also loved people; she was extremely generous and would help anyone in need. She took pleasure in planning parties, cooking for others, and spending time in conversation with all she met.  She will always be loved, and never forgotten.

Carol is survived by two brothers:  Harold Thorn of Edgewater, FL and Douglas Thorn and his wife Jessie of Burnwood; and twin sisters:  Jean M. Merrell and her husband Mark of Vestal, NY, and Jane Thorn of Simpson; a niece, Terri McDonald; and three nephews:  Douglas Thorn, Gary Wetzel, and Brandon Wetzel.

Following cremation, memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. in the Ararat Community Church, 2220 Ridge Road, Thompson, PA with Pastor Earl Cottrell officiating. 

Friends may call from 9:00 AM through the time of service at the church on September 29th.

Interment will follow in the Ararat Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may me made in Carol’s memory to a local food pantry or the charity of the donor’s choice.  To honor her life, Carol’s family suggests that her you extend an act of kindness to someone in need.
