Barbara E. Cavage

January 1, 1938 — February 25, 2022

Barbara E. Cavage, 83, of the Village of Steene, Canaan Township passed away peacefully on Friday morning, February 25, 2022 at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness. Her beloved husband of more than 64 years, Andrew S. Cavage preceded her in death just 23 days before on February 2, 2022. They were married on September 21, 1957. Born December 28, 1938 in Archbald, one of eighteen children, she was the daughter of the late John Sr. and Olga (Dorash) Schott. Growing up in South Canaan on the family farm, Barbara was a woman of many talents. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved all types of music. In her early years, she entertained in public with her sister Nancy, along with other family members throughout the area. After she married, she sang with her husband Andy as part of the Old Time Fiddlers and the Cavage Family Bluegrass Band. She had a passion for cooking and baking, which included being a master of Polish Cuisine. Through the years, she used these talents to host various parties for her family and friends. Her door was always open to everyone young and old alike and no one ever left her house hungry! Tending to her yard and garden, feeding the birds and canning fruits and vegetables were some of her favorite pastimes. She also loved traveling, camping and the outdoors and many different types of sports, which included her being an avid Penn State football fan. Barbara was an amazing woman, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and true friend who was proud of her heritage and family. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and sharing time with her. She is survived by three children: Andrew Cavage Jr. and his wife Michele of Steene, Kathleen Stark and her husband Phillip of North Rose, NY, and Loretta Rovinski and her husband Thomas of Pittston Twp; six grandchildren: Andrew Cavage III, Maylene Cavage, Jennifer Stults, Bryan Cavage, Philip Stark, and David Stark; brothers, Patrick Schott of Hattiesburg, MS, William Schott and his wife Mary Rockport, TX; and a sister, Nancy Piercy and her husband George of Seelyville. Barbara was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas A. Cavage; brothers and sisters: Margaret Jula, Gabriel Eldred, Elizabeth Roberts, Olga Williams, Caroline Schott, John Schott Jr. Joseph Schott, Paul Schott, twins Donald and Ronald Schott, Larry Schott and 3 infant siblings.
